Ministry of Industry and Trade Announces Semiconductor Production Cluster in Tomsk

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade (Minpromtorg) announced on March 3 the creation of an industrial cluster for semiconductor production in Tomsk. The total investment in the project will amount to 20 billion rubles (~$258 million). The main participant in the cluster is the company 'Tomsk Microchips,' which will collaborate with other partners. The launch of production is scheduled for 2027. This development is significant for the Russian IT hardware market, as it aims to develop domestic capacity for producing critical components—semiconductor chips. This holds strategic importance amid global restrictions on technology supplies.
