Canada has signed a $2.6 billion uranium supply agreement with India, reinforcing Ottawa's economic engagement in the Indo-Pacific region. As part of the 'Strategic Energy Partnership,' Canadian company Cameco will deliver roughly 22 million pounds of uranium to India's civilian nuclear reactors between 2027 and 2035. This deal represents a major move for India to capitalize on its swift industrial expansion and diversify its sources of nuclear fuel, reducing reliance on the United States as a single supplier. The long-term contract bolsters India's energy security and supports its ambitions for nuclear power development.
