Surprise Inspections Send Shockwaves Through Mining Operators, 36 Vehicles/Machines Fined 1.6 Million Rupees

A task force formed on the orders of the Jhansi District Magistrate conducted surprise inspections in sand/morum mining lease areas. Three leaseholders were fined 1.63 crore rupees (approximately $213,000). In cases of illegal mining/transportation, 36 vehicles/machines were imposed a fine of 16,24,670 rupees (approximately $21,240). This action signals a tightening of regulatory compliance in the mining sector.
